Safaga

On the gorgeous Red Sea, Safaga is a quiet, relaxed tourist town to visit. There is no wild Sharm nightlife, or shopping galore, it is the kind of place where you can wind down and enjoy the peace, or crank it up with water sports. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are very popular here, and there are brilliant dive sites.

Food:

  • Like most Egyptian Sea towns, Safaga has some great seafood eateries where you can enjoy the perfectly cooked catch of the day, right by the shore.

Sharks, Rays and Tuna:

  • While diving in Safaga's Abu Kifan Reef keep an eye out for the large pelagics that can be seen around these parts of the Red Sea.

By Air

  • Safaga is only 40 minutes (51 km) away from Hurghada’s International Airport.

By Bus

  • From Cairo, you can reach Safaga by bus.
  • A daily trip is operated by the SuperJet Company, and the bus stops at Tahrir, Torgoman and Almaza stations in Cairo.
The trip lasts about 7 hours (569 km), but it is by far the cheapest way to get to Safaga from Cairo by road.
